I am selling a copy of a Roman shield for reenactors in original size.
This style of shield was copied from grave steles for legionnaires and trajan's column (see below) in Rome.
It is made from 1/2" strong plywood with a linen surface and a rim and a buckle of brass.
It weighs abt. 6 kgs. (13 lbs).
Out of our production we have left a few shields unpainted for modern legionnaires who want to paint their cohort's design on their shield.
Shield dimensions:
Overall height : 107 cms. (42 inch) Overall width : 60 cms. (23.6 inch) measured along the surface.
Its brass buckle can be easily mounted and de-mounted by 8 screws with brass knobs on top as shown on my photo.
