his sun dial with compass is handmade from solid brass.It is a meticulously crafted reproduction of the original sun dial used on 18th century ships.
The original was made by WEST in London (engraved on the sun dial as on the original).The sun dial diameter is 9 cms.(3.5")
The compass was needed to adjust the sun dial into the correct North - South position wherever the ship was.With the instrument we supply a handcrafted hardwood box, 15cms x 15cms x 6 cms (6" x 6" x 2.5") large.
A brass anchor and enforcement brass pieces are meticulously inlaid into the hardwood.
Total weight of compass and box : 680 g (1.5 lbs).
