A70A - 10th century Viking or Norman sword and axe
The sword and axe we are selling were the main weapons used by the vikings when they fought their battles from Scandinavia to Britain and the European continent until they finally settled in Northern France.
The sword has a curved hand guard (quillon) 11 cms (4.5 inches) long, cast brass pommel and wooden grip wrapped with leather, the blade is blunt.
Its sheath is covered with leather and brass furniture.
The sword with sheath is 101 cms (40 inches) long,the steel blade length is 78 cms.(31 inches).
Weight : 1.6 kgs. (3.5 lbs.).
Point of balance from hilt: 32/33 cm or 12.6/12.9"
No full tang, the hilt is screwed to the blade.
The axe has a handle length of 67 cms. (27 inches)
and a blunt cast steel blade
