T28 - Figure: Knight in Armour for combat on foot, circa 1500
I am selling a very collectable figure intricately cast with a metal finish on a resin body resembling an etched and gilt suit of armour of high quality.
It is considered to be of French origin from around 1500.A particular feature of the suit of armour are the spikes on the helmet and the shoulders, which were not only defensive but offensive too.On breast and back plate you find gilded fleur-de-lis which were particularly associated with the French monarchy from the 11th century onward.
The figure looks like pewter and its weight is similar to pewter, it weighs 5.5 kg/approx. 12 lbs.
The knight is about 73 cms./29" tall to the helmet tip.The base is 23 cms (9") x 19 cms (7.5").
