D23E - Infantry Sabre Great Britain, 19th century
This sabre with a steel scabbard belonged to the standard equipment of British foot soldiers in the days of Queen Victoria (1837 - 1901).
The queen's insignia (VRI = Victoria Regia Imperatrix) can be found on both sides of the blade and on the guard too.
Original pieces are rare and valuable. We have had these made to original copies produced in India where in the past the originals were manufactured.
The marking "PROVED - T." are engraved within the star on the upper part of the blade.
