A04BMS - Throwing spears f. re-enactors/Germanic, Viking , Roman
This pair of throwing spears is reproduced after finds from different locations.Since the iron ages Germanic tribes, Vikings and Romans had similar spears and also in Africa and the other continents such spears were popular.
However, we only find spear heads on grave sites and the wooden shafts have not survived. They will often have been simpler than the turned hardwood shafts handmade by our suppliers.
Shafts of 30 mms (1.1/4”) dia. have been used.
The heavy spearheads are 3mms. (like 12 gauge) on their blunt edges. Total length of the spears is 33.85 inch (86 cm), one weighs 2.2 pounds (1000g).
