D89 - Austria Hungary cavalry sabre of Count Hadik, 1740-90
I am selling a reproduction of an Austrian-Hungarian hussars sabre,made famous by Count Hadik, the commander of a cavalry brigade in the Seven Years War between Prussia and
Austria..
In 1757, in a surprise attack he invaded Prussia's homeland and took Berlin when the Prussian king and his army had moved south towards Austria.
Therefore, to commemorate Count Hadik, our sword carries the following inscription (in Latin) on its blade :
ANDREAS COMES HADIK GENERALISCAMPI MARESCHALLUSEXCELSI CONSILY AULAE BELLICI SUPREMUS PRAESES.
The sword has a curved steel blade, 85 cms./33.1/2" long.
It has a leather scabbard with finely engraved brass furniture and 2 carrying rings.Its brass handguard is equally engraved, its grip has a leather lining with 2 brass studs holding it in place..
Total length (including scabbard) is 103 cms/40.1/2".
Weight : 2 kgs/ 4.4 lbs.
It is ideal for display and a famous sabre for re-enactors. .
