D53B - Roman rectangular shield scutum primed and unpainted
I am selling a copy of a Roman shield for reenactors in original size.
This style of shield was copied from grave steles for legionairies and trajan's column(see below) in Rome.
It is made from 1/2" strong plywood with a linen surface and a rim and a buckle of brass.
It weighs abt. 6 kgs. (13 lbs).
Out of our production we have left a few shields unpainted for modern legionairies who want to paint their cohort's design on their shield.
Shield dimensions:
Overall height : 100 cms. (39.3 inch) Overall width : 70 cms. (27.5 inch) measured around the curve.
Its brass buckle can be easily mounted and de-mounted by 8 screws with brass knobs on top as shown on my photo.
