D100 - naval officer's dirk, England, ca.1800
This dirk is classified amongst collectors as the first official pattern of an English naval officer's dirk of ca.1800.
It is best known as being similar to the 5-ball officer's spadroon for the 5-ball beaded decorations on its guard and its knucklebow. It has a ribbed ivory grip with its typical gilt brass "cigar band" in the middle with inset fouled anchor motif.
