This is a copy of a 1796 Pattern Heavy Cavalry Trooper's sword. This sword was based on an earlier Austrian design and features a distinctive disc hilt. The blade is single-edged with a wide, single fuller.

The back edge of the blade is marked Osborn. Henry Osborn was born in 1756, son of John and Elizabeth Osborn of Birmingham. He is first identified as a Sword Cutler in 1785 in Aston.
