This is the famous "Gladius", the thrusting sword of the Roman legion soldiers and the gladiators named after him. This is a reproduction of the famous River Find from the Thames near London. The original is from the time of Emperor Claudius, the conqueror of Britain, presumably from the year 43 AD.
The Roman legionaries wore this weapon with a shoulder sling on the right side.
Our reproduction is in original size and therefore a total of about 80 cm/31.49 inches long (without sheath 72 cm/28.34 inches) and about 1.6 kg/3.5 lbs.
The blades are blunt and therefore good for e.g. Theater.
The red leather sheath is equipped with four brass bands. On the middle two brass straps are the four straps for the shoulder strap. On the front of the vagina two tinned shield plates are attached. On the upper plate (mouth plate) is the Capitolinian wolf, as Romulus and Remus sucks. The lower plate is decorated with an acanthus ridge with birds and hares.

The handle is made of bone material, similar to a piece of art displayed in the Musée de Vienne in France. Knauf and hand protection were made from European wood (apple tree) and decorated.
The blade is hand-forged from high-quality carbon steel (EN45).
The scabbard consists of a wooden core covered with leather and decorated with tinned brass fittings.
Length with sheath: approx. 80 cm / 31.49 inch
Length without sheath: approx. 72 cm / 28.34 inch
Length of the blade: approx. 53 cm / 20.86 inch
Width of the blade: approx. 7 cm / 2.7 inch
Weight: approx. 1.6 kg / 3.5 lbs
