These chain mail ?leggings? were not very popular amongst medieval warriors in spite of the good protection they offered, because they added an extra 3.5 kgs (almost 8 lbs.) of chain mail to the weight of the other armour they were already wearing.
Reenactors today may have the same feelings, but the ?battles? today are much shorter !You have to find your own solution how to fix them to your trousers, see, how our ?warrior? did it.
Your legs should measure a maximum of 42 cms.(16.5?) or less (around), the front length is 55 cms. (21.5?) and the shorter rear is 43 cms.(17?) long.
The ?leggings? as shown on our bottom photo are made from "gun barrel brown" blackened 16 gauge steel links, combined in the antique pattern (4 links through the 5th), inner link dia. 3/8" (10 mms).
